Petr Vlček studied at the VŠUP in Prague in the studio of prof. B. Hanák in the second half of the 1980s. Since the end of the 1980s, he has focused on fused glass sculptures as well as designing bronze objects. His work is inspired by archetypal signs and ancient cultures. It’s characterized by simplified shapes aimed at cleaning up the shapes and geometrical abstraction.
The object on offer, Violet Knossos, is his seminal work from 2008. It was inspired by the Horns of Consecration of Knossos, recast in glass and so gaining a transparency and even a magical dimension.
